Allow me to admit that I have little regard for lawns, cotton kurtas, excessive gotta kinaari and all those awfully heavy dresses that have the tendency to make young girls look years older than their tender age!

Not to forget that they are awfully uncomfortable, suffocating, impractical and very unappealing if one doesn’t even like dressing up in a shapeless lawn kurta that is going to make you look like a shapeless pillow in a cover.

And why should we force ourselves to wear lawns despite our great displeasure?

• ·      Because the lawn fever is raging, and all the aunties will disapprove of your lack of lawn?
• ·         You just want to boast how many dresses you got in front of all your friends who are lawn crazy?
• ·         Your mother is lawn crazy and she keeps filling up your summer wardrobe with all sorts of lawn kurtas?

Whatever may be our reasons, let’s just say that not all of us are crazy about lawns as the lawn fever in Pakistan tends to portray. Having said that, despite my dislike for the lawn madness and heavily ornamented dresses, I always felt that I had little choice but to adorn them in order to complete my eastern wardrobe. Not anymore!
